We employ advanced cooking technology across the production of our farm animal feeds and have crafted some of the world’s most sophisticated manufacturing processes.

These innovations incorporate steam cooking, double pelleting, extrusion, and micronisation. By blending these four in-house feed and food techniques, Connolly’s RED MILLS ensures that its feeds are carefully cooked to enhance the ruminant digestibility and bioavailability of nutrients during consumption by dairy, beef, poultry, sheep, and pigs.

  • Double pelleting

    Optimising quality and digestibility with double pelleting

    Our cubes and pellets are crafted using high-quality wholegrains that undergo a double pelleting process to maximise digestibility and ensure premium pellet or cube quality for animals. First, all ingredients are finely ground and compressed under high pressure through a pellet die. These initial pellets are then reground and passed through another die to create the desired pellet or cube size. The Connolly’s RED MILLS double pelleting method blends premium ingredients under heat and pressure to produce a highly digestible, nutrient-rich, and dust-free feed for farm animals.

  • Extrusion

    Boosting soya absorption through extrusion

    At Connolly’s RED MILLS, we utilise soya beans for their beneficial amino acid profile and oil content. The soya beans are ground and processed through an extruder. This process uses pressure and steam to cook the soya beans. Extrusion enhances soya quality and digestibility by eliminating the trypsin inhibitor, an anti-nutritional compound naturally present in soya beans.
